You are the wind itself
Every drop of rain
The oceans themselves

All that is beautiful and good in this world

I miss the poetry that was our lips pressed against each other’s

The artistry of our bodies becoming one

The music of our breathing becoming heavy as we came together

The stars misaligned as we parted ways

Their flashes of light in the night

I look up at the sky

At this dark sky

Lit up by stars

I make a wish on each one

The same prayer

As if my love

Could be enough

To call you home.

A thought

You are the reason my heart beats
You are the reason my soul dreams

Try to stop.

So I pick up the pen

Old habits

Become

New habits

Turn

To dead ones

The urge

Still there

But pushed

Away

Thrust

To the back

Of my mind

The memory

Of smoke

Filling the room

Breathing

Should be

Easier

But each one

Feels

Labored

Now

Without the risk

Without the damage.
